Rand-Whitney traces its origin back to Massachusetts in 1857 when Mrs. Elvira F. Dodge started a company making folding cartons in Leominster. In 1938 Whitney Box of Worcester acquired Dodge Paper Box, forming the modern company Rand-Whitney. Rand-Whitney’s guiding principles of service, quality and innovation, coupled with an emphasis on family values, has resulted in growth as well as generations-long relationships with major customers.
During the 1970s and 1980s the Kraft family dramatically increased the size of the company through the introduction of new products, the acquisition of strategically-aligned companies and an expanded sales effort. The start up of affiliate company International Forest Products in 1972 assisted the expansion of Rand-Whitney’s sales effort from a regional focus to one of international scope.
Rand-Whitney Group LLC comprises one of the largest suppliers of paperboard products in the United States. Three operating divisions at Rand-Whitney are managed separately to foster flexibility, responsiveness and creativity. Rand-Whitney Containerboard LP operates one of the most environmentally friendly paper mills in the world, selling linerboard to our affiliate company and independent converters. Rand-Whitney Container LLC is the largest independent corrugated packaging manufacturer in New England.
In addition to operating paper recovery facilities, Rand-Whitney Recycling LLC maintains corporate relationships with major consumer products companies, global manufacturers, retail distribution companies, and government agencies. Using traditional recycling practices as well as innovative technologies, Rand-Whitney Recycling optimizes the recovery of non-hazardous materials to maximize customers’ revenue on the open market. The division excels in finding solutions for non-traditional material streams and implementing last mile programs bringing customers to zero-landfill status.
In 1965, Robert Kraft graduated from the Harvard Business School and began laying the foundation for starting companies based on working with customers in a highly personalized way. Every one of Kraft Group LLC businesses has since inherited the goal of creating value for every customer in an up close and personal way.
Today, Kraft Group LLC is a major player in the world of business, with the network and capital resources of a large global corporation. Doing business in over 80 countries with tens of thousands of customers, Kraft Group LLC is comprised of over 5,000 employees.
